True leaders know how to build rapport quickly and effectively, to develop good, strong relationships with others, and make informed, strategic decisions. These are also the skills of highly effective lawyers and TerraLex members. In 2024, we are excited to again offer the complimentary TerraLex Leadership Program to members. This program features international expert faculty providing substantive introductions to key leadership skills including:

Not only does this program cover a wide variety of leadership topics generally and within the legal industry, but it also does so within the scope of TerraLex. Participants build relationships and raise their profile within the membership. They also gain a greater understanding of the opportunities within TerraLex. By going through the program, they further develop their opportunities for referrals.
Nominations
Each firm may nominate up to two candidates for participation in the program. Nominations should come from the firm’s Managing Partner and Member Reps, collectively. Nominations will only be accepted using the following nomination form. The program is designed for those individuals who have demonstrated leadership potential, are on a partnership track and/or in the first five years of partnership, and are interested in refining and expanding their leadership skills. We strongly recommend you consult with your nominee(s) prior to nomination to ensure his/her commitment to and interest in the program. Please note the deadline for nominations is November 1, 2023.
Program Commitment
The program consists of eight segments focused on different aspects of leadership. Sessions will be offered on a monthly basis from January through May and September through November. Each month the same presentation will be available at two different times to accommodate varying time zones. Participants need only join one of the times each month. Each session will be between 60 and 90 minutes. Content will be recorded for limited use in case a participant absolutely cannot attend a live session, however participants are expected to join in the live sessions at least 75% of the time (6 of the 8 sessions) as interaction with the presenters and their fellow members is paramount. If they cannot make that time commitment, they may not be a good candidate for this program. In fairness to our speakers and other members of the cohort, we strictly adhere to the attendance protocol and will remove participants who violate the attendance requirement. Exceptions are rare and only for extreme circumstances.
Additionally, participants are encouraged to engage in the program-specific discussion board on TLC, TerraLex' virtual community, where practical resources will be shared. This will allow them to have ongoing dialogue with individuals applying similar concepts to their practice.
Investment
The TerraLex Leadership Program is an important member benefit and is completely free of charge to our member firms. There is no tuition or additional dues required for participation. The program does involve an investment of time and we encourage you, your nominee, and your nominee’s immediate supervisors to be comfortable with this.
